Provision Policy

Mada (Qatar Assistive Technology Center) was established to support the needs of disabled people in Qatar, particularly those that want to use Assistive Technology to continue their education, find new job opportunities or improve their quality of life. All of Mada’s services, including assessment, training and the technology of provision of technology are provided free of charge to eligible people with disabilities in Qatar. These services are provided through the Mada Universal Loan Program.

How does this program work?

Assistive technology is loaned to eligible people with disabilities after the successful completion of the assessment process as conducted by an Assistive Technology specialist at Mada. These tools, which include hardware and software, are initially loaned for a trial period of 7-30 days and that is used to ensure of the effectiveness the recommended solution. During this period, recipients of the technology are encouraged to try the solution in the workplace, the classroom and at home.

Eligibility Conditions

  • The beneficiary of the Mada Universal Loan Program must either be a citizen of the State of Qatar or has been a permanent resident in Qatar for at least two years.
  • The recipient of technology must adhere to a schedule of follow up sessions with an Assistive Technology Specialist at Mada.
  • The recipient of technology must use the device or software according to the instructions given by an Assistive Technology Specialist at Mada.
  • The recipient must assume responsibility for the device or program.
  • The recipient must not pass on the device or software to others without the explicit consent of an Assistive Technology Specialist at Mada.
  • The recipient must immediately notify an Assistive Technology Specialist at Mada if the tool is lost or damaged in any way.
  • The recipient must return to Mada for all technical support.
